The week after my last post, Alistair contracted hand, foot and mouth disease! It is very contagious and Alistair had to be home from daycare the rest of the week. For the most part he took it in stride, but the sores in his mouth did make eating difficult. He ate very little all week and as a result his BMs became NORMAL, it was amazing!
The next week we went to the pediatric GI doctor. She was really nice and very thorough. She is testing him for just about everything she can think of, including an upper GI scope which is scheduled for November 14th! The good news is that she doesn’t think it is Celiac’s disease. She thinks it is chronic, non-specific diarrhea of infancy which is caused when a toddler’s digestive system is not mature enough to handle fruit sugars properly. if this is the case he will be off of almost all fruits for the nest year and a half or so until is digestive system catches up then he should outgrow it and we can reintroduce fruits! This is the least serious of the options out there so it is what i am hoping for. We already started him on the diet, and his BMs, which had become normal during the Hand, foot and mouth disease out break stayed that way until this weekend…. they seem to be going back to the way they were…
i am hoping it is a fluke, we are sticking with the new diet and hopefully it will be better again, we are going ahead with the scope at this point though, just to rule everything else out.
Alistair got to participate in his first “school” related charity fundraiser. Each year his daycare does a “trike-a-thon” for St. Jude’s children’s research hospital. The “twos, “threes” and “pre-k” kids get to participate so this was Alistair’s first time. All week the kids learn about trike/scooter/bike saftey and then at the end of the week they get to bring their trikes and helmets to school and ride on a little track. Alistair was in hog heaven, since he was in the youngest class they got to start in the lead! He had an absolute ball and afterwards cookies and lemondae were served!
Right after trike-a-thon we loaded him up into the car and shipped him off to grandma and grandpa Fraser’s for the weekend! He had a great time, he got to sit in a fire truck and go the the marching band show and get spoiled by grandma and grandpa! While he was gone we went to a grown up party at Maggiano’s for my friend Meghann’s 30th birthday and we also spent the day together at the golf course! I know what some of you are thinking, “I didn’t know Jessica golfed,” well you are right, I don’t. I just rode along and worked on knitting and crocheting while Michael golfed. We both enjoyed it so much! We were able to spend the day together and enjoy the beautiful course and do what we each wanted to do, knit/ golf! It was a great day!
My last bit of news in this post is that i hit a major milestone with my weight loss, i’m posting my ticker below!
